DEAR JOANNE AND FAMILY, I CAN'T REMEMBER WHEN I DIDN'T KNOW CARL. WE WERE SCHOOLMATES OVER THE YEARS IN JACKSBORO IN THE 1940'S AND OUR FATHERS WERE COMPETITORS IN THE AUTO AND GASOLINE BUSINESS THERE. OUR FRIENDSHIP LASTED THRU THESE MANY YEARS WITH LOTS OF LUNCHTIMES TOGETHER IN DOWNTOWN DALLAS SHARING OUR LOVE AND MEMORIES OF OUR HOMETOWN AND THE DEAR PEOPLE THERE. IN MORE RECENT YEARS WE HAVE BEEN EMAIL BUDDIES SHARING JACKSBORO NEWS, FUNNY STORIES, OLD AGE, ACHES AND PAINS AND CONSERVATIVE POLITICS WITH EACH OTHER ALMOST DAILY. I WILL TRULY MISS MY DEAR LIFETIME FRIEND. PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU FOR PRECIOUS MEMORIES AND PEACE AT THIS TIME. SAMMY AKINS , NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (JHS CLASS OF 1950)

Carl lived next door to me when we were in high school. He was a fine person and a wonderful neighbor. We reconnected a couple of years ago when I put out a listing of all the surviving classmaes and their addresses.

He was a wonderful story teller and shared really great jokes. We also shared an interest in politics.

I will miss hearing from him.

I grieve with Joanne and Carl’s family. My special Buddy is gone. We shared the problems on the job, we shared the good moments. How lucky I was to also have Joanne as my friend. My love to all.
