

Curtis Alan Witten passed away at his residence in Ft. Worth, Texas on December 2nd, 2024.
Alan was born on July 10th, 1946, in Carnegie, Oklahoma to Curtis Edgar Witten and Elma "Sug" Witten (Whitesell). He went to Lawton Public Schools attending Whittier Elementary, Central Junior High and Lawton High School where he graduated in 1964. While in high school, he played football for three years and helped lead the team to win the State Championship in 1964.
Alan started a sales career working at Sears in Lawton, Oklahoma where he was promoted to department manager then to Store Manager at a Sears in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Alan was recruited by Combined America Insurance Company where he excelled greatly. He was noticed by and introduced to Burk Barr, who was thought of as a legend with Combined America. Burk was starting a new company, TLC, and wanted Alan to join him.
Alan sold the first insurance policy, recruited and trained the first representative with TLC. In doing so, Alan and Burk created a dynasty in the supplemental insurance industry that still lives on today.
Having had a successful 25-year career with TLC he began to focus on helping people with tax-advantage retirement planning. Alan and his longtime friend Don Dobbins partnered with John Bonnet at Employee Money Solutions. This led to Alan and Don forming and becoming Partners at The Way Financial Solutions. In doing so Alan helped many thousands of clients with a better way to retire.
Alan always had a desire to succeed and wanted to help others succeed also.
He had an affirmation that he lived by and encouraged others to do the same...PMA which stands for Positive Mental Attitude.
Alan was a member of Aurora Baptist Church. He enjoyed the preaching of Brother Jimmy Withers. He hardly missed a Sunday.
Alan loved to go fishing. He even traveled to South America and Mexico to catch " muy grande pescados". When asked about his fish he caught, he always said they were, " 5,6,7,8 pounds!" An inside joke family and friends had was he was "Wittenizing" when he described the size of the fish. Alan also loved guns and did some occasional hunting in his younger days.
Alan is survived by his four children, Stephanie Crawford (Tommy), Robert Witten, Kim Self (Clay) and Terri Witten Reaves (David); nine grandchildren, Paisley Witten, Chris Kowalski (Jamie), Payton Fox (Daniel), Kyla Self, Keely Self, Ryan Witten (Kelly), Cole Reaves, Morgan Reaves Wallace (Tanner Wallace), Lauren Reaves (Michael Biron); six great grandchildren. Two brothers, Tommy Witten( Becky) and Danny Witten; nephew and niece, Chad Witten (Jennifer) and Tammy Kuhlman (Matt), and longtime friend and business partner, Don Dobbins
He was preceded by his parents, his wife CJ Witten and his in-laws.
A celebration of life for Alan will be held Friday, December 27th, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034.
