

He fought a long battle with COPD, but he suffers no more at his heavenly residence with his Lord Jesus Christ.
Alfred was born in Hamilton, Alabama on August 26, 1932. He graduated from Oak Grove High School in Jefferson County, Alabama on May 31, 1951, and received a BBA in Accounting from Southern Methodist University in Dallas on May 26, 1968.
He served in the United States Air Force at James Connally Air Force Base in Waco and Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls during the Korean War. He married Marguerite Ann Cooper on June 12, 1954, at the First Baptist Church of Bellmead. He had a passion for playing softball, gardening, hunting, fishing, and traveling.
Alfred had a career in the Food and Beverage industry at General Foods, Gaines, Quaker Oats, and Pepsico. He started as an Inventory Clerk, held various leadership positions of increased responsibility, and concluded his career as a Regional Manager. After he retired at 55, he traveled with his wife and spent time with his grandchildren.
He was an active member of First Baptist Church and taught Sunday School to the Junior kids for many years and substituted for his own Seniors class when needed. He coached little league baseball and was the Baseball Commissioner of Euless Athletic Association. He served on the Planning and Zoning Committee and the Zoning Board of Adjustments in Colleyville.
He was survived by his children; Terry Dale Mays (wife Karen) and Connie Denise Childress (husband David), grandchildren; Michelle Leann Mays, Haley Amanda Kruse (husband David), Shaylah Rae Enge (husband Erik), Brean Alyn Childress, Jacob Shane Childress, and great-grandchildren; Lukas Enge, Azzie Kruse, Shyanne Scott, Nivek Kruse and brothers, and sisters; Bob Mays, Jack Mays, Cathy Collins, Rick Mays, and Ron Mays.
