Alyce and I were first cousins. There was a 12 year difference in our ages, so she was married and off on her adventures as I was growing up. It wasn't until our later years that we became close. We use to talk for hours on the phone about the old days and how much things have changed and not always for the better. One year around this time, she came to KC for a visit. Her daughters, Scarlett and Shana came with her. They brought me an angel made of gold metal and every Christmas when I set it out, I think of them and our visit. That angel holds a special place in my heart, especially now.

I was so happy that I was able to attend Alyce's 90th birthday party. I wish we would have lived close to each other and could have spent more time together. I will miss her very much. She was such a sweet and loving person.
