

Many things can be said about Amanda Nicole Keany. Known to friends and acquaintances as a friendly, energetic, empathic and decisive woman, her compassionate nature would always shine through, revealing her charm, warmth and conscientious demeanor. She was warmhearted, gentle and organized in all the things she sought to accomplish. Amanda was a mentor, a natural “teacher” capable of seeing things clearly, leading others and bringing out the best in all of those around her.
Amanda was raised in Watauga, Texas.
Amanda attended Abilene Christian University, earning her BS Composite Degree in Math, Science and Business. Amanda became a middle school Math and Science teacher to fulfil her passion for helping others reach their full potential. For the past four years, she dedicated herself to teaching High School Math at Birdville High School. Amanda loved teaching. She loved her students and she loved her teaching colleagues. At ACU, she was an active member of Alpha Kai Omega social club and Mu Sigma math club. She volunteered for several mission trips taking her to Kona, Hawaii and Anchorage, Alaska. Clearly, Amanda enjoyed helping others.
Amanda loved Jesus with all her heart. Her faith never wavered during her illness; she firmly believed she would beat cancer and return to her passion of teaching. Amanda’s unbelievable strength and courage during this battle was evident every day as she demonstrated such a strong will to fight for her health. She chose joy every day and leaves us all with courage to live life to its fullest with that same joy. She did not fight alone; she was surrounded by her family, friends and her loving dogs. Our hearts feel empty without her. She was so full of life and we truly miss her.
She is survived by her mother, Allison Keany; her sister, Kenzie Keany; and her grandparents, John and Charlotte Keany.
Throughout her life, Amanda was a gregarious and enthusiastic woman. She was generous in sharing her personal attributes, giving and helping those she knew and loved. She would often fill the role of coach, bringing out the best in everyone. She was imaginative, original, tender hearted and easy to get along with. Amanda leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and cherished memories. Everyone whose lives she touched will dearly remember Amanda Nicole Keany.

Amanda Nicole Keany, of Watauga, Texas, passed away February 2, 2019 after a six-month battle with cancer. Amanda will always be remembered as a passionate and caring daughter, sister, granddaughter and friend by all who knew her. She was born on November 18, 1988 in Arlington, Texas, and in those short 30 years of her life, she exuded joy to everyone around her, especially her family.

While Amanda is deeply missed, she will remain in our hearts forever. Whenever we think of her, we will break into a big smile reflecting her joy, knowing that she is at peace in heaven dancing and singing with Jesus.
A memorial service to celebrate Amanda’s life will be held on Saturday, February 16 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 3pm.
