Archie was raised in Weatherford, Texas and attended Peaster High School in 1948. He married Suzanne Gardner in 1956, and they remained married until her passing in 1996. Together, the couple had three children. Archie later married Martha Ogle in 1999, and they remained married until his passing.
He was a Chief in the U.S. Navy for twenty years before moving on to work for the maintenance department of American Airlines at Alliance Airport for more than twenty years.
In his spare time Archie enjoyed traveling the country with his wife Martha. He has been to 49 of the 50 states with North Dakota being the only one he never saw. Spending time with family and sitting on his back patio were some of his favorite pastimes.
His family and friends will always remember him as a squared away sailor, a wonderful husband, father, grand-father, and great grand-father.
He is preceded in death by his mother Mattie, father Virgil, first wife Suzanne, son David, brother Jack, and sisters Leah, Earline, and Thelma.
He is survived by his wife Martha, son Mike, daughter Susan, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, stepchildren Jonathan, Karen, Sharon, and Keely, remaining sister Francis and husband Steve.
A resident of Fort Worth, Texas, Archie’s Funeral Service will be held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034, US, on October 13, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
