From adolescence, Aubrey was an independent thinker and a go-getter, always staying true to herself and questioning the status quo. Whip-smart and sure, she took her first flight lesson the day before her 13th birthday, following her father and grandfather into commercial aviation. Staying in line with her adventurous spirit, she became one of the first competitive female wake boarders in Texas before graduating from Southlake Carroll High School in 2004.
While attending the University of Oklahoma, Aubrey became a flight instructor in 2007 for the School of Aviation. It was at this time that she met the love of her life and future husband.
After earning her Bachelor of Science, Aubrey moved to Houston and started flying the Saab 340 for her first airline, Colgan Air; a Continental Connection carrier. In 2013, she relocated to downtown Detroit to fly the CRJ 200 for Endeavor Air; a Delta Connection carrier, ultimately upgrading to Captain on the CRJ 900. In addition to her usual duties as a line pilot, she was an active member of the Union and Training Review Board, ensuring pilots received proper training.
After two exciting years in Detroit, Aubrey returned to Texas and gave birth to her twin boys shortly thereafter. In the proceeding years, Aubrey focused on her new life as a mother, making sure her boys learned the value of thinking of others and spreading love and joy. She instilled her passion for Halloween and the elaborate costumes and decorations she made for the season. In addition, Aubrey’s passion for yoga spilled over to her twins making sure they knew the importance of good nutrition, viewing food as medicine, and taking care of your spirit.
Aubrey passed away the morning of May 3, 2021, after a year-and-a-half-long battle with breast cancer. She is preceded in death by her brother Dwight “Doc” Reel. She is survived by her husband Sascha Rice. Her children Doc and Wylie. Her parents Craig and Aundrea Reel. Her sister-in-law Natasha. Her oma Anna Antal.
