Mrs. Audrey Elizabeth Bennett

Audrey Elizabeth Bennett, age 101, went to her heavenly home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2023 in Cumming, Georgia. Audrey was born in Nauvoo, Alabama, as the oldest child of Earnest and Tempie Madison on October 30th, 1921. She lived her childhood in and around Jasper, Alabama. On July 18, 1942 she married Ray Bennett. On August 26, 1943 Audrey became a mother when her first child, Linda, was born. In 1946 after World War Two they moved to Mobile, Alabama and lived there for 9 years. On August 8, 1946 their second child, Larry, was born. In 1955 Ray joined the army to make it his career and they became a military family. Audrey’s life as a military wife involved moving around alot. She adapted very well and she was the glue that kept the family together during 10 relocation moves, which included living in France and Italy. In 1971 Ray retired and then in 1972 they moved to Euless,TX where her son Larry and family lived for the next 28 years. After Ray’s passing in 1998, Audrey moved to the Atlanta, GA area to live out her remaining 23 years with her daughter, Linda and family.

For the vast majority of her life, Audrey had a very strong relationship with the Lord. She had a wonderful salvation experience at the age of 12 and for the rest of her life she grew boldly in her faith. She relied daily on the promises of God and the power of prayer. She loved life and loved her family and loved people and she never wavered from her faith, even during the difficult seasons of her life. She was a friend to everyone and everyone that knew her loved her. Many people have been touched by her life and have used her as an example of a Christian life well lived.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray, her parents, Earnest and Tempie Madison, her sisters, Reba, Vernice, and Martha Ann, and her brothers, Carl and Dewell.

Audrey is survived by her sister Anna Madison Horton and husband Terry of Daphne, AL; her daughter Linda Bennett O’Shields of Cumming, GA; her son, Larry Bennett of Yukon, OK; her grandchildren, Robert Bennett and wife Katie Stevens Bennett of Oklahoma City, OK; Ashley O’Shields of Cumming GA; Allison O’Shields of Cumming, GA; Brian Bennett and wife Heather Miranda Bennett of Yukon, OK; and her great grandchildren, Averi Bennett, Ashton Bennett, Hannah Bennett, Adelyn Bennett, and Alivia Bennett.
