Becky Gutierrez Batt, of Grapevine, Texas passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 in Grapevine, Texas. She will be lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all who knew her. She was born on March 28, 1935 in El Paso, Texas to Juan and Aurelia Gutierrez.
Becky was raised in El Paso, where she met and married Bill Batt at the age of 17. During the first few years of marriage (following Bill’s honorable discharge from the U.S. Army), they traveled for Bill’s employment with the oil pipeline, as Becky kept house and cared for their firstborn, Pam. Upon the birth of their second child, Darlene, the couple moved back to El Paso to raise their two girls near Becky’s parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews, who all loved her very much. While spending time with extended family was a priority, Becky also enjoyed the company of neighbors who shared stories of their families and were very supportive in times of need. Four years after Bill’s death, Becky moved to California to live with Darlene and her family, and a year later they all moved to Grapevine, Texas.
Becky is survived by her daughters, Pam Batt, of Salem, Oregon; Darlene Batt Selinger (spouse, Tanner Selinger), of Grapevine, Texas; grandchildren, Denise Batt Turner (spouse, Abe Turner), of Salem, Oregon; Aubree Selinger Browning (spouse, Adam Browning), of Farmers Branch, Texas; Maddie Selinger, of Dallas, Texas; greatgrandchildren, Allyna Cid, Rodrick Cid, and Precious Cid, of Salem, Oregon; Theodore (Teddy) Browning, of Farmers Branch, Texas; and several nieces and nephews who live throughout the United States.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Aurelia Gutierrez; husband, Bill Batt; siblings, Marie Young, Carmen Gross, Margie Salazar, and Cecil Gutierrez; and her grandson, Billy Batt II.
Interment of Becky’s ashes will be scheduled later in 2019 at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, El Paso, Texas.
