Billie "Bitsie" Maureen Welch, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on October 20, 2026, at the age of 78.
Bitsie lived a life full of love, faith, and compassion. Born on August 17, 1948, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Bitsie was a daughter of WM Beeler and Martha Ayleen McHale, and later her stepfather Curtis Barham.
She was predeceased by her parents; her loving sister, Sally Rodgers; and her devoted husband, Randy L. Welch. Bitsie graduated from Southern State College (now Southern Arkansas University). She began her career in Springdale, AR as a medical technologist and then worked in hospitals in New Boston, TX and Sulphur Springs, TX, eventually retiring as a hospital System Administrator at Harris Methodist HEB in Bedford, TX.
Bitsie found joy and purpose in her family, especially in the lives of her two sons, Phillip Hollis Harrington II, and his wife, Laura, of Murphy, and Richard Scott Harrington, and his wife, Heather, of Wylie. Her grandchildren, Katherine Grace Harrington and Madeline Rose Harrington, were her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them, especially recent trips to Colorado, Tennesee, and Port Aransas; Kate's college graduation; and Madeline's birthday parties.
Bitsie was an integral part of her family’s lives, always providing support, wisdom, and unconditional love. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family, as she was a devoted member of St. Philip Presbyterian Church for nearly 30 years. Her active participation in the church community was a testament to her faith and her commitment to serving others.
Bitsie loved animals and rarely passed up an opportunity to adopt a dog in need. She and her most recent rescue Sealy were regulars at the local dog park, where Sealy ran free and Bitsie developed close friendships with fellow dog lovers.
Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Bitsie’s Life on October 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The service will be held at St. Philip Presbyterian, located at 745 W Pipeline Rd, Hurst, TX 76053.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Philip Presbyterian in Bitsie’s memory.
Bitsie will be remembered for her warm heart, her unwavering faith, and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
