Billy Owens

Billy F. Owens passed away Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015. Service: 12:30 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Euless. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville. Billy was born Nov. 3, 1930, in Collinsville to Charlie and Bernice Owens. Billy graduated from Collinsville High School in 1948 and served in the United States Marine Corps in the Korean War, from 1951-1953. He married Joyce Burleson on May 11, 1957, and moved to Euless in 1958. They have one son, Eric Owens. Billy and Joyce have lived in Euless for more than 56 years. Billy worked at Vought Aircraft for 42 years, from 1948-1992, and served as president of the UAW Local 848 from 1961-1967. Throughout his life, he was an active member of First Baptist Church of Euless. He has served as deacon and worked on several committees. He was also active in the city of Euless government serving on the city council and various boards and commissions. He was also the president of local AARP chapter. Billy was a patriot and community volunteer. He was passionate about his family. His favorite moments were the ones he spent with them. He cherished the opportunities to be with his two grandchildren, Katie and Grayson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Bernice Owens; and brothers, Emi, Charles and Allen. Survivors: His beloved wife of 57 years, Joyce; son, Eric and his wife, Danee; grandchildren, Katie and Grayson Owens; nephew, Dr. Joe Owens; and nieces, Melanie Jill Gonzales, Jennifer Nichols, Jane Veigl and Cheryl Jones.
