Burl Dean "Scotty" Scott, of Bedford, TX, passed away on Saturday July 17, 2021. He passed away at his home surrounded by his loving wife and son. Scotty was born in DeLeon, TX on April 28, 1928 to Robert and MaeBell Scott. He grew up with sister Nell on their pecan and peanut farm. In his late 20's he met Rosemarie Breindl while working for Phillips Petroleum, which he worked for 34 years. They fell in love in Borger, TX. and married on May 30, 1958. After the birth of Patricia, they bought a house in Stinnett, TX and had Vincent and Susan.
Scotty was very active in the community. He belonged to the Elks Lodge 1581 of Borger where he served as Exalted Ruler of the Borger Lodge, Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler for the Panhandle District of Texas and past Texas State Vice President. He established 3 new lodges during his time. He was on the Board of Directors for the Crippled Children's Hospital of Octtine, TX and had yearly annual fund raisers. In 1968 he was Elk of the Year for the State of Texas. He was also part of the Toastmasters International and won many competitions for his speeches.
In 1974, Scotty got the opportunity to move to Stavanger, Norway with his family. He worked offshore in the North Sea on several platforms for Phillips Petroleum. He was mechanical maintenance supervisor on Cod & Ekofisk Bravo. He also became a favorite chef on the platform for his bar-b-que skills on the grill that his crew built for him & frying the fresh Cod fish out of the North Sea. He also was part of the international square dance team from Norway and danced in several countries in Europe. His love for music included Bob Wills and Texas Playboys and he could really get going when he sang "San Antonio Rose"! Living in Norway gave him the opportunity to share his experiences of many European countries with his family on summer vacations and his kids really got to know their German relatives
Scotty is survived by his wife, Rosemarie and his children Patricia Namisnak, Vincent Scott and Susan Hackman and his two son in laws John Namisnak and Helge Hoivik, his sister Nell McNeil and niece Trisha Bynum and grandson Jacob Hackman.
