Carl Gordon Rich was born in Mt Vernon, TX on January 2, 1948 and graduated from Odessa High School. He was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany with the title of Caretaker of National Secrets. He rose to the rank of sergeant; upon being honorably discharged he attended the University of North Texas earning a degree in Political Science. After graduating he embarked on a civil service career that spanned 45 years, he got particular satisfaction with his work with the Indian Nations. As a passionate baseball fan, he served as the Southlake Carroll Baseball Commissioner and enjoyed watching and coaching his son Andrew. During his short retirement he loved to travel with his wife Rita. They most recently took a cruise to the Bahamas, visited San Diego for a Chris Isaak Concert and went to Las Vegas to See Celine Dion, Brooks and Dunn with Reba McIntyre. He passed peacefully in his home on August 3, 2017. He is survived his wife Rita, his Daughter Amy, his son Andrew and Andrew’s intended Alex, his brother Tommy and Jimmy, and Sister Debbie. He had a great love for his dog Bailey and his Grand pups.
