

Carol graduated from Kimball High School in Dallas, Texas. She graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from North Texas State University in Denton. There she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. In her youth, Carol and her family were very active in the Cockrell Hill Baptist Church. Later as an adult, Carol worked as the director of childcare and a Sunday school teacher at Ovilla Road Baptist Church in Midlothian, Texas. In 2019, Carol became an ordained minister and officiated two weddings.
In the early 1990s, she worked as a legal assistant at a law firm in Dallas. There she met her future husband, Alan Hooks. Years later Carol and Alan started dating and they were married on June 18, 2011. Carol transitioned to a career as a caregiver for elderly ladies in 2010. Carol excelled in her career as an independent caregiver as she was a very loving and compassionate person. She was highly sought after as a caregiver with several families describing her as a godsend to her clients.
Anybody who knew Carol knew that she was an animal lover extraordinaire. Even as a young child she would give her lunch sandwiches to dogs in back yards while walking to elementary school. Often to her mother’s dismay, she brought home stray animals of all sorts. She had several beloved pets throughout her life that she referred to as her babies.
Carol loved to travel with her family. Her favorite vacation spots included Maui, Cayman Islands, New York City, New Orleans, and Missouri. Carol was also an avid sports fan. As a young lady she was a “Hawkette” for the old Dallas Black
Hawks hockey team. Most recently her favorite teams were the Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, and Kansas City Chiefs. She attended countless Mavericks and Rangers games including the Rangers 2023 World Series. Three especially memorable family trips included Hall of Fame Inductions for Dirk Nowitzki, Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez, and Adrian Beltre.
Carol was especially loved and adored by her nieces and nephews, Amy McClarney (Matt), Joseph Williams (Tannoz), Kasey Craig (Gabriella), Hallie Hooks, Lauren Hooks Coxe (Turner), Chandler Hooks, and Chase Hooks and her great nephews and nieces, Jay Williams, Luci McClarney, Jules Williams, Quinn McClarney, and June Williams. Carol was a vibrant, energetic person who lit up any room she entered. She was deeply loved by all her family and friends. Undoubtedly, all her family and friends have many fond memories of her that they will cherish forever. She will be greatly missed by all.
Carol Salazar Hooks is survived by her husband, Alan Hooks, her Pop, Robert White, sisters Dolores Craig (Ron) and Nora Williams (Marc Reeves), her father-in-law, Herbert Hooks, and brothers-in-law, Brian Hooks (Ronda) and KC Hooks (Mary), as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert H. Salazar, mother, Dolores M. White, her newborn daughter, Natalie, and mother-in-law, Charlotte Fulmer Ballard
