This picture was from when I got my college acceptance letter. I never really wanted to go to college, because that just wasn’t what I had imagined for myself. But my grandma always pushed me to do better, and she knew what was best for me even when I didn’t want to accept it. She basically forced me to apply, and this picture was taken when I told her I was officially enrolled at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

My grandma was the most unique, special, loving, and unforgettable person. She believed in me even when I didn’t fully believe in myself, and I’ll always be grateful for the way she pushed me to become better.

My grandma was such a special person. She had a way of making every interaction with her feel special in some way. Every time I left the house, her and my Papa would follow me outside. I would always tell them they didn’t have to, but they always insisted. As I was about to get into my car, my grandma took my hat off, put it on, and asked me if she was a “cool dude” now. That moment perfectly shows the kind of person she was. Even something as simple as walking 20 feet to the car became a memory with her, because she always found a way to make it special.

This video reminds me of how much my Nana loved to cook. I remember coming home as a kid and almost always having a fresh, perfectly cooked meal waiting on the table. My granddad would either pick me up from school or I would ride the bus, and when I walked in, one of her famous dishes would be sitting there. As I got older, I loved cooking with her, and she taught me how to make pound cake, peach cobbler, her famous chicken paprikash, beef stroganoff, and most importantly, her sweet tea. Those memories in the kitchen with her will always mean so much to me.

This picture was from one of the many times I took my Nana on her weekly Dollar Store and Marshalls runs. She was always nosy and loved going through my things, and one day she found my baseball bat in the back of my pickup truck. She jokingly grabbed it and told me she’d use it on me if I didn’t take her to Kohl’s so she could use her 30% off and Kohl’s Cash. That was her personality perfectly, always funny, always messing with me, and always making every little trip memorable.

This photo was taken around five years ago at the dinner table, where me and my Nana had one of our favorite traditions: sitting there joking around and lovingly insulting each other. We drove my granddad crazy, which explains the look on his face in the background. That was just who she was, though. She had the best sense of humor, and those are the little moments I’ll always miss the most.
