Charles "Deryal" Lindsey

Charles Deryal Lindsey, age 93½, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, in Granbury, Texas. Known affectionately by family and friends as "Deryal," he was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a true "Mr. Fix It".

Deryal was born on December 18, 1932, in Wilson, Oklahoma, to Russell Albert Lindsey and Gladys Aribell Gardner. Raised in the tight-knit community of Wilson, he spent his youth there and graduated from Wilson High School in 1950. He remained proud of his heritage as a tribal member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

Following high school, Deryal answered the call to serve his country, joining the U.S. Army as a Corporal from 1953 to 1955. After being honorably released from active duty, he continued his service in the Army Reserve for the following six years. Upon returning to civilian life, Deryal built a long and respected career. He became a Master Electrician and dedicated more than 38 years to Bell Helicopter before his retirement on November 26, 2001. In addition to his professional dedication, Deryal was an esteemed Master Mason for over 50 years.

Deryal was universally remembered as a "Jack of all Trades". He was happiest when he was piddling and working on projects, whether it involved complex electrical work, plumbing, or tending to his farm. An outdoor enthusiast, he loved skiing and camping with his three children. He was an avid reader with an impressive personal book collection, frequently returning to his favorite Western authors, Larry McMurtry and Louis L'Amour. Above all, he cherished his family and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his grandkids at their football games, baseball games, and drill team performances.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Albert Lindsey; his mother, Gladys Aribell Gardner; his grandparents; his brothers, RA, Dwain, and Bill Lindsey; and his sisters, Mariquinn Cole and Joyce Cooper.

He is survived his daughter, Deralynn D. Brown; his sons, Russell D. Lindsey and M. Scott Lindsey; his grandchildren, Austin R. Dempsey, Kristen N. Brown, C. Dalton Lindsey, and Colby D. Lindsey; his great-grandchildren, Kash R. Dempsey and Blakely A. Dempsey; and his sweetheart, Wanda Hawkins.

A visitation will be held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Bluebonnet Hall, 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, Texas 76034, on July 2, 2026, beginning at 12:30 pm, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 pm.

Committal & Military Honors will take place at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, Veterans II, 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, Texas 76034, on July 2, 2026, beginning at 2:30 pm.
