

Service: 10 a.m. Monday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel. Interment: Charles will be laid to rest in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: Friends are cordially invited to share remembrances 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Charles was born in Ardmore, Okla., on May 21, 1927, and grew up in Jacksboro. He worked in the oilfields of Texas and then spent four decades in the transportation industry as a driver and dispatcher. He served in the Army with the 98th General Hospital as a medic during World War II and was a 50-year member of the Hurst VFW. Charles was a member of Bedford Church of Christ where he faithfully served the Lord.
He loved camping, fishing, his family, his dog, Maggie, and was an avid fan of the TCU Horned Frogs and the Texas Rangers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Randolph Owen and Amanda Ruth Owen of Jacksboro; two brothers; and five sisters.
He will be dearly missed by his friends and loved ones.
Survivors: His wife of 64 years, Ula Dean Owen; children and their spouses, Larry and Lina Owen of Clear Lake, Debbie and Larry Hightower of Euless, Jeri and Bryan Shelby of Bedford and Jimmy Owen and Jim Sherrill of Dallas; grandchildren, Michelle Owen of Houston, Kelly Gonzales of Bedford, Denise Perry of Clear Lake, Clay Hightower of Euless, Amanda Pace of Bedford, Zachary Pace of North Richland Hills and Canyon Schwartz of Houston. He left 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
