Charles W. Smith, age 92, of North Richland Hills, Texas, passed away on August 9, 2022. He was born to Harry Leeds and Goldie Carmen (Brines) Smith, in Mount Carmel, Illinois, on December 6, 1929, the sixth of six children. He married Frances Frysinger in 1951. Together, they had two daughters: Deborah and Marsha. Charles served in Korea as a member of the United States Army Corps of Engineers and after three years of active duty and four years in the reserve, he was honorably discharged in 1957. Upon leaving active duty, Charles joined American Airlines where he worked for 30 years, retiring as a Supervisor in the Maintenance Department. After retiring from American Airlines, he worked a decade for the Birdville Independent School District. Known by friends and family as CW, his sometimes stern visage was quick to turn into a big smile and wonderful laugh, revealing his keen sense of humor. Hard working and self-reliant, he built a loving, supportive home for his family. CW carried a deep love for sports and the outdoors throughout his life. He had a passion for training dogs, in particular Labrador Retrievers, and was a member of the American Kennel Club for decades. CW is survived by his wife Frances, his daughters Deborah (Rick) Tucker and Marsha (Paul) Baker, and his grandchildren Bryn and Logan. Visitation starts at 10:00 AM followed by the Funeral service at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home & Memorial Park, in Colleyville, TX.
