If you asked 100 people who David was they all share a different story. A father. A brother. A charmer. The best golfer in the world. A true fisherman. A storyteller. A comedian. A husband. A troublemaker. A man who loved helping the homeless. The worlds best Paw Paw. A loyal friend. And a good man. Well, he is all of that and SO MUCH MORE!!
David Russell Gullahorn also known as “Duke” and “Gully” was born on October 26, 1960 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Wynzella and Claude Gullahorn and was the youngest with 3 siblings.
David had a passion for golf, fishing, riding his Harley, and playing poker with his friends. He also enjoyed traveling, cruises and family vacations, but anyone who knew David knew he loved and adored his children and grandchildren the most! They were his pride and joy!
David was a Master Mason at the Stockyard Lodge and he had recently celebrated 30 years. Gully retired as foreman for the City of Keller Water and Wastewater Utilities Department in 2016. He loved his job and everyone he worked with and they loved him too. He was a long time friend of Bill Wilson and was a member of the North Forty Group.
David was so full of life! He was always cracking jokes and being silly, that is just who he was! He also had a special place in his heart for the homeless. The family will continue his tradition of collecting blankets, coats, and socks and passing them out in the local community every winter, in his honor.
David was preceded in death by his mother Wynzella, father Claude, and his sister Connie. He is survived by his brother Larry and Clarene Gullahorn, his sister Becky and Steve Essner, his four children; daughters Wendy Houdeshell, Tara & Daniel Ludovici, Nickie & Sharla Gullahorn, and his son David & Brandi Gullahorn. He also has 11 grandkids; Dillon, Savannah, Tyler, Cameron, Peyton, Gavin, Joshua, Noah, Laney, Kason and Callie Shay, as well as 3 great grandkids, Mason, Lylah and Ayden, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
