Debbie, lovingly known as “Honey” to her grandchildren, passed away surrounded by her family on October 4th of 2025. Her life was filled with faith, devotion to family, a strong work ethic, and joy for life’s adventures. Debbie was born on August 7, 1958, in Dallas, Texas and raised in Irving. She graduated as Salutatorian from Nimitz High School in 1976, where she proudly spent three years on the Vika drill team. On August 27,th 1976, she married Barry, her high school sweetheart and the love of her life. She went on to earn her degree in Business from the University of Texas at Arlington, once again graduating as Salutatorian. She built a remarkable career with more than 40 years in the banking industry. She started as a teller and through perseverance and dedication, promoted to the role of Executive Vice President in commercial loans. Debbie worked for 25 years with Bank of America, five years with Hall Financial Group, and over a decade with Key Bank. Known for her strong work ethic, she poured herself into her profession while always keeping her family at the center of her heart. Outside of work, Debbie found joy traveling with family & friends. Snow skiing in the mountains, water skiing on the lake, going on cruises, cheering at her sons’ and grandchildren’s sporting events, traveling with friends and family, playing pickleball, and relaxing with a good Hallmark movie. She especially loved her mountain home, where she took pride in helping teach all her grandchildren to ski. Debbie had an impeccable eye for décor; a gift she inherited from her mother. With each season she transformed their home into something beautiful. Christmas was her favorite, as she celebrated the birth of Christ with joy by teaching her grandchildren to sing “Happy Birthday to Jesus.” Decorating over days, filling every inch of her home with Holiday Spirit and trinkets. Honey was known for her generous heart and the joy she found in giving. She was a meticulous gift giver, always choosing with care and thoughtfulness, making each person feel deeply special and loved. Her greatest joy, however, was her faith and her family. Debbie’s love for Christ was evident in the way she lived and loved. She treasured every trip, every game, and every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and her close-knit group of “CLIQUE” friends who shared in life’s journeys together.
Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Standifer Kubica; her father, Robert Kubica; and her stepmother, Rose Kubica. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 49 years, Barry Newman of Grapevine; her sons Brandon Newman and wife Casie of Lubbock and Joseph Newman and wife Courtney of Bedford; six grandchildren who were her pride and joy—Jaxon, Malli Rae, Delanie, Jake, Tripp, and Ruby Jane—as well as two bonus grandchildren, Ryker and Rylan Ivy, whom she loved as her own. She is also survived by her sisters, Karen Ostrom and husband Scott, and Trisha Toole and her husband Michael; her brothers Chris Kubica and his wife Carolyn, and Wyman Pierce and his wife Shawn. The legacy Debbie leaves is one of faith, love, and devotion to family. We will always carry little pieces of Honey in our hearts!
