He was born in Aberdeen, SD on February 20, 1943 to Norman and Lorene Dobberpuhl Hassenpflug. He spent his childhood on the family farm in Groton, SD, graduated from Concordia High School in St. Paul, MN, and attended Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, IL. Following college, Dennis moved to southern CA where he met and married Sandra Reeser. They had one son, and a daughter who died shortly after birth, before their marriage ended in divorce. During his career, he worked for companies in aerospace and electronics industries, including Litton, TRW and Figgie, where he held various positions in Marketing, Management and Field Service. He met the love of his life, his wife Kathy Collins Hassenpflug, while working at TRW. He followed her to TX where they were married in Irving, TX in 1982. They had two children, a son and a daughter. His greatest love was his family. He will be remembered for his sarcasm and his humor, his laugh and his smile, his quick wit, and his willingness to help out when and wherever needed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Lorene Hassenpflug, his sister Norma Hassenpflug Buck, and an infant daughter.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathy of Grapevine, TX; son Steve Hassenpflug and wife Wendy of Newhall, CA; daughter Jenny Connors and husband Joshua, currently serving with the U.S. Marines in Okinawa, Japan; son Kevin Hassenpflug and wife Sonia of Hudson Oaks, TX; and five grandchildren, Liam Connors, Abby Connors, Jameson Hassenpflug, Ryder Uptain, and Hayden Littleton. Dennis will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of his life will be held at Gateway Church, 700 Blessed Way
