Deon LaMarr Rainbolt (affectionately called “Grandpa” by many), 91, entered the loving arms of His Savior on May 1, 2025. Deon was born on December 13, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Frank and Anna Newkirk Rainbolt. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a great friend to everyone that knew him.
Life led him to reside in South Haven Kansas, Blackwell Oklahoma, Dillon Colorado, and many other places until he eventually settled in Fort Worth Texas where he lived for over 60 years. Deon was devoted beyond measure in marriage to Irene for 59 years until the Lord called her home. They built an incredible life together raising their daughter Connie and grandson Derrick, and he loved being great grandfather to Bella.
His favorite activities were playing guitar, flying, fishing, hosting friends at his house, building just about anything, and supporting his family in any way possible.
He joined the Navy AV in 1952; he served for 4 years and travelled the world, which led him to a passion for planes and flying. He became a flight instructor, and he loved building and flying planes. Deon was great at working with his hands and was a builder to his core. His talents led him to a career in many different fields: he engineered control panels for NASA, patented laminated marble, built cabinets, he was a rancher, and the list goes on and on.
We are honored to agree with the Lord in saying to Deon, “Well done, good and faithful servant!”
Deon was preceded in death by his beloved wife Irene, father Frank, mother Anna, brothers Hershel, Raymond, Arlie, and Jarrell, and sister Joyce. He is survived by daughter Connie, grandson Derrick, granddaughter-in-law Heather, great granddaughter Bella, brother Ivan and wife Jo, brother Dwayne and wife Marilyn, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and an endless list of loving friends.
The Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Monday, May 5th. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 6th, and interment will follow.
