On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, Donald Lee Bland, known by his friends and family as Don (“Poppel” to the grandchildren), passed away at the age of 92. Although during the last few years, he was in the care of others, he spent most of his life active and independent.
Don was born January 25, 1934, in Stephenville, Texas, to Tom Bland and Imogene (Clement) Bland. He graduated from Technical High School May 28, 1951. Don enlisted into the army on October 3, 1951, and served three years. His primary duty was as a Draftsman, creating maps of Germany. He loved to snow ski, go boating on the lake, and watching sports. He loved the Cowboys and the Rangers! But mostly, he loved to spend time with his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dolores.
Funeral: Wednesday, August 5, 10 a.m. at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel.
Burial: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. No Visitation is planned.
Memorials: For those desiring, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of his wife, Dolores; or as contributions to the well-being of our soldiers.
Don was born January 25, 1934. He was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and an exceptional grandfather; and he now sits with Jesus in heaven.
