

Dorthea Inez Sutton, 75, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026 in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born on March 7, 1951, in Grapevine, Texas. Dorthea lived a life dedicated to family, faith, and caregiving.
A proud graduate of Grapevine High School in 1969, Dorthea pursued continuing education at TCJC to support her career as a certified in-home daycare provider. Her work was more than a profession; it was a calling. Dorthea found immense joy and pride in caring for children and forming lasting bonds with the families she served. She cherished the moments when children she had once cared for returned to entrust her with their own children. To many, she became an integral part of their extended family.
Dorthea’s life was deeply rooted in her faith and community. Attended Bethel Baptist Church in Grapevine, where her father served as a deacon. Dorthea embraced her Christian faith wholeheartedly and was baptized within the church. Her spiritual foundation guided her throughout her life and brought her comfort and purpose.
Family gatherings were among Dorthea’s greatest joys. She delighted in holidays filled with shared memories and delicious meals that brought everyone together. In retirement, she continued to share her love of cooking by serving as a sous chef under Chef Andrew Huszar with Tastefully Yours Catering in Southlake. Whether preparing meals or tending to her garden, Dorthea found fulfillment in creating beauty and care through her work.
Dorthea is survived by her sons Mark O'Neill and Jim O'Neill; grandchildren Holly O'Neill, Henry O'Neill, Joseph O'Neill, and Miranda O'Neill; siblings Charles Sutton, Brady Sutton, Wanda Mansell, and Jolene Riley; as well as numerous friends who were touched by her kindness and dedication. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Sutton and Dorthy Venable.
Dorthea will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to family and faith, her nurturing spirit, and the countless lives she impacted through her caregiving. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

May Dorthea’s memory bring comfort to those who loved her deeply. A Visitation followed by a Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, beginning at 02:00 PM at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park at 5725 Colleyville BLVD, TX 76034.
