May 18, 1965 – May 20, 2026
Douglas Duncan Macmillan peacefully transitioned on May 20, 2026, at the age of 61. He fought his battle with cancer with extraordinary strength, courage, and grace until the very end. His motto in life was, “Never stop believing,” and he truly never did.
Douglas was a warm light to everyone who knew him, always making people feel welcome, comfortable, and at home. He had a rare gift for turning ordinary life moments into something magical. Above all, his greatest joy in life was making his family happy — something he did every single day through his love, kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion and generosity.
Douglas was born on May 18, 1965, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Alexander Macmillan and Lynn Wolf Macmillan. He spent his childhood in Milwaukee and treasured summers in New Hampshire. Doug graduated from Bayshore High, School of the Arts in 1983 and proudly served in the United States Air Force, completing his training in San Antonio, Texas. He later attended Columbia College Chicago, where he studied Visual Arts. His creativity and artistic spirit remained with him throughout his life.
Doug met the love of his life, Tanya, in Chicago, Illinois, and it was a love story from the very beginning. The couple spent their early marriage in Minsk, Belarus, Tanya’s hometown, before settling in Texas in 1996. Doug became a longtime resident of Colleyville, where he built a beautiful life centered around family, friendship, and community.
Doug found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments: supporting Dasha’s basketball career, sharing Sunday picnic lunches at the park, attending plays and performances, traveling with family, volunteering at Casa Manana theater and taking pride in his perfectly manicured shrubs and yard. He had a way of making every outing, holiday, and family gathering feel special. His laughter, warmth, and generous heart created memories that will be cherished by many.
Doug had a long and distinguished career with Everon Solutions, where he was deeply respected by colleagues and friends alike. He was honored to be in the Circle of Excellence multiple times, a reflection of both his dedication and the kindness he brought to everyone around him.
Douglas is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Tanya (Tatyana Neftulayeva); his daughter, Air Force Academy graduate, Dasha (Darya D. Macmillan); his mother, Lynn Macmillan; his sister, Anne Deems (David); his nephews, Alexander and Andrew Vazquez, whose success becoming lawyers Doug watched very closely; and many cherished family members and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by him.
Please join us in celebrating Doug’s beautiful life on May 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home & Memorial Park. Doug always loved a good gathering, and we look forward to honoring his life, his spirit, and the joy he brought to all of us.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions toward the installation of a memorial bench at the Colleyville Nature Center, where Douglas enjoyed his Sunday walks. This special place brought him peace and joy, and the bench will serve as a lasting tribute to his life and memory. Please check out @Doug-memorial on Venmo for more information.
