On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, just after midnight, Duane Edward Roberson, loving husband, father of three, and grandfather of six (plus a couple of granddogs), passed away peacefully at home at the age of 72.
Duane was born to James and Sharen Roberson on December 26, 1950, in Seattle, WA. During his first 18 years, his family moved around 18 times before settling in Hurst, TX, where he graduated from L.D. Bell High School in 1969. In the late summer of 1969, he met the love of his life, Rose Copenhaver. They were married on October 1, 1970. They raised a son, Chris, and two daughters, April and Mandy.
Duane worked as a delivery driver for Manor Bread for 21 years before retiring. He then helped run his wife's Avon business until he began working for Blockbuster Video in multiple capacities. He retired after eight years with the company.
Duane was an avid sports fan following his favorite high school, college, and professional teams. He was a sure-handed lefty first baseman on his church softball teams for two decades. Most importantly, he was a devout Christian, devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather. He was a talented singer and gifted Sunday school teacher with a lifelong passion for learning. He was a voracious reader of history and theology with 130+ credit hours from Dallas Theological Seminary just for fun.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, James and Sharen. He is survived by his siblings Ken, Sue Ann, and Dean, also his wife Rose; his son Chris; daughters April and Mandy; grandchildren Aiden, Ansley, Hailey, Aubrey, Rebekah, and Christopher, who will all miss his quick wit, silly sense of humor, and unconditional love.
A visitation for Duane will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 COLLEYVILLE BLVD, COLLEYVILLE, TX 76034. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 5725 COLLEYVILLE BLVD, COLLEYVILLE, TX 76034. Burial will ensue in the Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
