

Edith Anice Volkel Vaughn was born on a farm in Graham County, Kansas on November 9th 1933. She was the youngest of 4 siblings, all of which have preceded her in death. Her father's name was George Dewey Volkel and her mother's name was Ruby Marie Shane Volkel.
She went to 1st through 8th grade at a one room country school then to high school at the small NW town of Lenora, Kansas where she graduated in 1951.
She worked as a soda jerk for 4 years at the local drug store. She attended airline school on Omaha, Nebraska and then moved to Texas in 1953. SHe married William Robert Vaughn in 1955. She went on to become an accountant and worked in that profession until her retirement.
William Robert Vaughn passed away in 2002 after 47 years of marriage. Edith lived alone for 6 years until she dated Wallace Freeman and they married in 2008. After 10 years of marriage he passed away on December 21, 2018. Wallace and Robert were old friends as both had worked and retired from Bell Helicopter.
Edith is survived by nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and many, many friends who will always love and miss her.
Services will be held at Bluebonnet Hills where she will be buried by her loving husband of 47 years William Robert Vaughn.
Edith is a longtime member of St. Philip Presbyterian Church In Hurst.
