Edna Belle Harrington Sparger, age 91, died July 6, 2015. Belle was one of 11 children born to Bryant and Georgia (Cheek) Harrington. In 1941 she married Marvin Sparger of Bedford where they reared their three children: Joan, Anna, and Harvey. Marvin and Belle descended from pioneer Texas families, some of whom arrived in Northeast Tarrant County as early as 1854. Belle taught Sunday School to several age groups, spent several years as youth sponsor at Colleyville United Methodist Church, and taught adult Bible class.
In later years she loved to crochet, share stories of her childhood, work in the garden, read the Bible, and sing a multitude of Christian hymns. She shared her faith with all.
She is survived by her daughter, Anna Sparger Wood (Roy), daughter-in-law Sue Potter Sparger (Harvey, deceased), grandson Jerrod Sparger, five granddaughters—Sonya Derczo Loudenberg (Bob), Crystal Sparger Wade (Stephen), Leslie Wood Cullen (Jeff), Marla Wood Hernandez (Antonio), Valerie Wood Jesus (Dave), and ten great grandchildren—Belle and Caleb Loudenberg, Payton and Gwen Cullen, Dahlia and Violet Hernandez, Elysia Jesus, Justice, Joshua, and Jadon Wade. She was preceded in death by husband Marvin Sparger (1980), son Harvey Sparger (2004), daughter Joan Sparger Derczo Bogdanski (2012), parents Bryant and Georgia (Cheek) Harrington, and all her brothers and sisters.
