Elizabeth “Libby” Barnes, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on October 28, 2020 in Dallas after battling Progressive Supernuclear Palsy (PSP) since 2017. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all that knew and loved her.
Libby is survived by her son and daughter in law, Craig and Andrea Hulcy and her grandchildren Mike and Maddie Hulcy of Coppell, TX, her son and daughter in law Ryan and Angelica Williams of Truth or Consequences, NM, her sister and brother in law, Debbie and John Tolleson of Dallas, her brother Tommy Stewart of Argyle, Texas, TX and her faithful companion “Spike”. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Barnes and her parents, Ray and Martha Stewart.
Libby was born on June 25, 1947 in Dallas, TX to Ray and Martha Stewart, grew up in Oak Cliff, Texas, graduated from Sunset High School, and later attended the University of North Texas. Libby raised her sons, Craig and Ryan, in Lakewood and worked as a real estate agent with David Perry Miller. She was known to many for her outgoing personality and her loving generosity. An expert conversationalist, Libby never forgot a face, and made everyone feel like a dear friend. A “quick” trip to the store could take over an hour because of all the people she needed to stop and talk to. Libby was known to her grandchildren as “Mimi” and had a special connection with Mike and Maddie sharing her love for cooking and gardening and having fun! She will be missed dearly by all that knew her.
A private family memorial service is planned for later this month.
