Elizabeth Mell Mooneyham

Elizabeth Mell Mooneyham, age 93, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on December 13, 1932, in Anderson, Missouri, Elizabeth was the cherished daughter of Howard and Lucille Crumbliss. She graduated from Neosho High School and, on February 11, 1951, married the love of her life, Billy Jim Mooneyham.

Early in their marriage, Bill was stationed at Fort Baker Army Base near the Golden Gate Bridge in California. During their time there, Elizabeth attended junior college in the San Rafael area and later worked as an operator for Pacific Telephone Company.

Together, Elizabeth and Bill built a life grounded in faith, hard work, and a deep commitment to one another and their family. After their time in California, they settled in Kansas City in 1954, where they raised their two children, Karen and Kevin. In 1969, the family moved to Dallas, where Elizabeth worked in the Human Resources Department at Brookhaven Junior College. While she took great pride in her work, the relationships she nurtured and the people she cared for were always at the center of her life.

Elizabeth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family fiercely. She was the heart of family gatherings and a trusted source of wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love. Her kindness, grace, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on countless lives. To many, she became a “second mom,” generously opening her home and her heart to neighborhood children, friends, and anyone who needed a caring presence.

Elizabeth was blessed with many talents and interests. She loved to cook and was especially famous for her green-icing cookies, which became a treasured family tradition. A gifted seamstress, she lovingly made many of her daughter’s clothes. She also enjoyed needlepoint and created beautiful Christmas stockings that will remain cherished family heirlooms for generations. In her younger years, she enjoyed square dancing, playing cards with friends, and attending high school football games. Elizabeth was remarkably knowledgeable about a wide range of subjects, from politics and classic movies to the music of the 1950s, and she always had a story, an opinion, or a bit of wisdom to share.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Lucille Crumbliss; her sisters, Virginia and Georgia; her brother, Howard; her beloved husband, Bill; and her son, Kevin.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Taylor (Steve); grandsons Kyle (April), Tyler (Kathryn), and Justin (fiancée Jen); granddaughters Ashley (Sean) and Katelyn; daughter-in-law Becky (Ray); brother Wayne; numerous nieces and nephews; and her treasured great-grandchildren; Jackson, Dylan, Tristan, Addison, Caroline, and Francie.

A private family interment will take place at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park on September 26, 2026.

Elizabeth leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, grace, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. A life well lived, a love well shared, and a memory treasured forever.
