Weix and husband Patrick of Coppell, Texas; grandchildren Morgan, Laura, Caroline, Jay, Beth, Tim, Derek, Natalie, and Nathan, and several great-grandchildren. Known affectionately as “Meany Manny,” he loved his extended family of nieces and nephews.
Manny was born on May 18, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York to Carlo and Florence Tricoli. After graduating from college with a degree in chemistry, Manny began his career with Lehn and Fink in New York, and retired from Alcon Laboratories in Fort Worth, Texas. Manny was a proud veteran of the US Army, having served his country in the Korean War, and was injured climbing an icy hill in Korea. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Manny moved back to Brooklyn to resume his career as a chemist. It was in Brooklyn that Manny met the love of his life, Eleanor. Manny and Eleanor began their life together on February 14, 1954 in Brooklyn, eventually moving to New Jersey, and then to Texas.
Manny enjoyed volunteering and spent much of his spare time in service to others. He used his math skills to tutor students at St. John’s Elementary School, and volunteered to assist people with their taxes. Manny served on numerous committees at his church, was active in the Knights of Columbus, was a Eucheristic Minister, and together with Eleanor, volunteered delivering meals for the elderly for the VNA Meals on Wheels program. Manny was also very active in Veterans organizations such as the VFW and St. Joseph’s Village Veteran Group.
Manny loved to travel with Eleanor, and together they enjoyed a trip to Italy with St. John’s Church, a cruise to Alaska, trips to Santa Fe and The Smoky Mountains, many long weekends at the beach in Galveston, in addition to many other sites around the US. In June 2015, Manny took the trip of a lifetime courtesy of Honor Flight DFW, to celebrate America’s Veterans and share in a day of honor at our Nation’s Memorials accompanied by his son John, also a Veteran.
Manny’s family would like to thank his caregiver, Maria, for her exceptional care and support, and the team of caregivers at Visiting Angels for their compassionate care of Manny while on hospice. A special thank you to his niece MaryAnn, who came to provide extraordinary care, and for her love, compassion and support to both Manny and his family in his final days.
Memorials can be made in Manny’s name to the Honor Flight DFW, 2201 Long Prairie Road Suite 107, PMB 376, Flower Mound, Texas 75022 or online at honorflightdfw.org/donate.
