Ernestine Rogers Burton

June 14, 1926 – June 14, 2026

Ernestine was born in Dallas, Texas, to Ernest and Vera Rogers. Ernest worked in highway construction which resulted in many moves. They finally settled in San Antonio, Texas.

Ernestine graduated from Harlandale High School in 1943 and Trinity University in 1947.

She worked as secretary to the pastor at Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas. She completed a 26-year career as an analyst at General Dynamics in Fort Worth in 1991. Following her retirement, she volunteered at Texas Health Hospital HEB and Shady Oaks Elementary School.

She enjoyed teaching 4th and 5th grade Sunday School for 37 years.

She enjoyed spending time with her family “making memories”.

Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Vera Rogers, her brothers Gene, Dan, and Don, and niece Wendy Rogers.

She is survived by sons, Randy and his wife Ginger Burton, Rick and his wife Melinda Burton, sister-in-law Carolyn Rogers, great-grandchildren Kinley, Adelyn, and Everett Carter, and nieces, nephews and many friends.

Our family would like to thank the staff at Holiday Lane Estates and ENHABIT Hospice Care for their care of our mother.

Visitation is Tuesday, June 23, at 9:30 am at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, with the Celebration of Life starting at 10:00 am.
