Flo Ramsey, 83, of Decatur, Texas, passed away on June 6, 2026. Born January 13, 1943, in Pampa, Texas. Flo will be remembered with deep respect and enduring gratitude for a life defined by steady devotion to family, generous care for others, and the quiet strength of someone who consistently stepped forward when help was needed.
Flo had a gift for making people feel looked after. Her warmth often arrived in the simplest, most sincere way—asking if you were hungry, making sure you were fed, and sending you home with something comforting. Many will recall her coconut cream pie, tea cakes, and chicken dumplings, offered not as a performance but as a natural expression of love. In her home and in her heart, there was room for everyone, and her instinct to listen, guide, and support made her a trusted presence in the lives of those who knew her.
As a mother, Flo’s support was unwavering. She attended every one of her daughter’s softball games, showing up faithfully and proudly. When her son developed an interest in horses, she met that enthusiasm with action—going out and buying a horse, the kind of practical encouragement that said, without needing to say it, “I believe in you.” Her care was not limited to her immediate household; she was known as someone who would help anyone with their problems, a natural leader whose compassion was matched by resolve.
Flo also found joy in creating with her hands. She enjoyed crocheting and making quilts, crafting pieces that carried patience, skill, and a sense of home. Professionally, she worked from home while her children were in school, and later served as the manager for M.J. Designs for 26 years—work marked by reliability and commitment. In time, she relocated to be near her children and grandchildren, choosing closeness and presence as priorities that guided her decisions. There Flo loved caring for her property, finding joy in riding her mower, even when there was only a single blade of grass to cut.
One of the happiest memories she held was from last year when she made the lengthy drive to Oregon with her daughter Ella and daughter-in-law Sherryl to visit family. At Crater Lake during the cold summer, she trekked through snow to gaze upon its beauty. Ready for warmth, they drove along the Pacific Coast to sunny San Diego to see her great-granddaughter.
Flo is survived by her daughter, Ella Wanager, and her wife, Sherryl Wanager; grandchildren, Logan, Taylor, and Cheyenne; great-grandchildren, Bonnie, Ezra, and River; and her brother, DWayne Laney and his wife Ginger. Flo is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Flo was preceded in death by her husband, John Ramsey; her parents, Dorothy Spears and Floyd Lee Laney; her brother, Michael Laney; and her sons, Danny and John John.
A Celebration of her Life is Monday, June 15, at 2:00 PM, at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville, Texas 76036. The family will be accepting visitors starting at 1:00 PM, and interment will follow the service in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
Flo’s life was a testament to steadfast love—expressed in meals shared, hands held, and the consistent, caring presence that made others feel safe and valued. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
