Garry Andrew Mabry

Garry Andrew Mabry of Colleyville, Texas passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at the age of 75. He was born on September 10, 1949 in West Frankfurt, Illinois. The military took his family to Japan, Germany and across the U.S. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Donald and Eleanor Harriet Mabry of Pawleys Island, South Carolina.

He graduated from West Point Military Academy in 1971, a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He returned to school to complete an MBA at the University of Dallas, with a focus in Latin American Studies, graduating in 1995. Following his service in the Army, he worked for IBM, beginning a decades long career in the software industry before finally starting his own business online, always an entrepreneur at heart.

In his spare time Garry had a passion for learning and teaching. Ask a question and be prepared to receive an encyclopedic account. Garry was keen on science, history and world affairs. He was a sports enthusiast, ever-loyal to his underdog team, the Washington Commanders. He channeled his love of sports into coaching his children’s sports teams in their youth. He had been an avid parachuter, golfer and skier.

Garry was a man of great character – honest, humble and brave. He led a full life, rich in adventure and humor, and his story-telling was unmatched. Though Garry never knew a stranger, he had a special love for his friends, family and country. He is survived by Lilian Mabry, his spouse of 36 years, and their children, Alexander Mabry and Grace Mabry. He also leaves behind his sister Jill Donabauer, brother-in-law Michael Donabauer, niece Mabry Morrow and nephew Andy Donabauer.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the VA and his entire medical team for their life-sustaining work and loving care. With the support of a village, Garry endured ALS with strength, resolve & dignity.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service for Garry on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 10:00 am with reception at Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery proceeding the service.
