

She was born in Bryan, Texas on September 7, 1938, to Gary Allen Barnes and Mary Lucille (Bailey) Barnes. Gary Lou graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Education. She also graduated from Texas Woman’s University with her Master of Education. Gary Lou had a career in education with 7 years working in the Fort Worth Independent School District and 18 years working in the Grapevine Colleyville Independent School District. She taught 6th grade English and Reading at Colleyville Middle School prior to retiring in 2003 after 25 years as an educator. She was a member of White’s Chapel Methodist Church of Southlake.
She met her husband, Earl Lee Geddes on December 1, 1958, and they married on March 12, 1960, in Bryan, Texas. They were married for 64 years.
Gary Lou was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in which she received her Golden Circle Award in 2023 for being a member for over 50 years. She had a passion for cross-stitching, playing games, puzzles, reading, creating the family calendar, and writing her yearly Christmas letter. She enjoyed scratch-offs, going to the horseraces and the casino as well as frequently traveling. She was a huge Texas A&M Aggie fan, especially football!
Gary Lou was preceded in death by her parents: Gary Allen Barnes and Mary Lucille (Bailey) Barnes.
She is survived by her husband, Earl Lee Geddes, of Fort Worth; son, Earl Lee Geddes, Jr. and wife Henrietta, of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Gina Gonzales and husband Harry of Hurst, Texas; grandsons, William Geddes of Dallas, Texas and Jared Gonzales of Dallas, Texas, and numerous cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday October 30th, at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas.
Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Thursday, October 31st, at the funeral home with Rev. Kyle Roberson officiating. Interment will be immediately following the service.
