George grew up in many different cities including Dallas, Detroit, Des Moines, Cincinnati, St. Louis, and Glendale, California, where he graduated from Hoover High School in 1951. He attended the University of California at Berkley on a Naval ROTC scholarship where he earned a Bachelors in Business Administration in 1955. George completed two summer Naval tours during college and served three years in the Navy, post graduation, where he earned the rank of Lieutenant J.G.
He married Suzanne Elliott (Frank) Brockett on September 25, 1961, and their marriage was blessed with four children. During his working years, George had a successful career in both public and corporate accounting as a Certified Public Accountant. He worked for several different companies, ending his career with Bell Industries of Los Angeles, CA as the Manager of Tax.
He is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne and their four children: James Elliott Brockett and his wife Reba, of Spokane, WA; John Edward Brockett and his wife Kristin, of Indianapolis, IN; Elizabeth (Brockett) Shurtz and her husband Todd, of Southlake, TX; and Jennifer (Brockett) McCarty, of Farmers Branch, TX.
He is also survived by his brother Charles Rosser Brockett of San Pedro, CA; his brother-in-law Mathias John Frank and his wife Joyce, of Gallatin, TN; and by his eight grandchildren and one great grandson: Kara Brockett and her husband Ethan, of Columbia, SC; Kyle Brockett and his wife Lori, of Wesley Chapel, FL; Bryce Brockett of Fort Worth, TX; Kevin Shurtz of The Colony, TX; Grant Shurtz of Southlake, TX; Daniel McCarty of Fayetteville, AR; Brock McCarty of Austin, TX; and John McCarty of Denton, TX; and his great grandson Blaise Brockett, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Keller's Old Town Funeral Home, 220 Keller Parkway, Keller, TX 76248. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Northeast Baptist Church, 1000 Davis Blvd., Southlake, TX 76092. Private burial will be at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, Colleyville, TX.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Northeast Baptist Church, 1000 Davis Blvd., Southlake, TX 76092 or the charity of your choice.
