Obituary of George Olen Sanders
IN THE CARE OF

Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home & Memorial Park

In Loving Memory

George Olen Sanders left us peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in Plano, Texas. He had just celebrated his 82nd birthday the day prior.

George was born on July 15, 1944, in Gladewater, Texas to Lue Vera McCarroll and Olen Hartley Sanders. He was a man of immense integrity, sharp entrepreneurial spirit, and boundless generosity.

He attended Texas Tech University and later served in the United States Navy in Guam as an officer.

Over his lifetime, George built and led many successful businesses and ventures. Including building and developing over 200 homes in Vail, Colorado, where he resided for many years in the 80s.

His most recent venture was Diamond Oaks Country Club in Fort Worth where he served as the proud owner. To George, the Club was far more than a business, it was a community and an extension of his family and will live on as his legacy.

George was a rare gentleman who lived by the virtues of grace, kindness, and imparted wisdom on many. He possessed an extraordinary ability to lift others up with inspiration, a warm smile and a listening ear.

He was very deeply rooted in his faith and was devoted to serving the Lord and attended Gateway Church in Southlake.

George was also an avid golfer, fisherman and world traveler.

He is survived by his beloved partner, Nicole Hook of Dallas; his brother, Morris Sanders (Piper) of Haltom City; his nieces, Morgan Marquez(Nick) of Keller, Taylor Arnold (Johnnie) of Lake Whitney and Laura Spiegle of Waco as well as his nephews, Jessie Sanders(Carrie) of Lubbock and Tom Munn of Coppers Cove and a vast circle of extended family and countless dear friends who will miss him beyond measure.

He is preceded in death by his parents Olen Hartley and Lue Vera; his brother, James and sister Pearl.

A celebration of George’s remarkable life will be held at Diamond Oaks Country Club at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor George’s memory the way he lived his life: with kindness, generosity, and a commitment to helping others.
