

Gerald Wayne Combs (Gerry) was born on January 23,1950 to Merle and Ruth (Lehman) Combs of Ogallala, Nebraska. He grew to manhood in Ogallala along the way making many friends and developing his love for cars and motorcycles. Prior to his high school graduation, he spent one summer at Wentworth Military Academy. He graduated from Ogallala High School in May 1968 and went to San Diego, California where he rose from seaman apprentice to Chief Warrant Officer during his 26 year tenure with the Navy.
After the Navy he worked for several engineering companies where he was project manager for many high profile jobs. After retiring from that job he channeled his energy into what he really loved, which was motorcycles. He became an instructor for Motorcycle Safety Foundation and worked at that for several years until his knees finally said no more.
He continued to be an avid motorcycle rider until his decline in health made him stop.
He lost his battle with cancer on April 21,2024.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Ruth Combs and an infant brother,Scott Allan Combs.
He is survived by his wife ,Sandra Combs of San Diego, California, daughter, Shawna Whitehead of La Porte , Indiana. son, Max Whitehead of La Porte, Indiana, and son Eric Combs and wife Martha and their twin boys of Arizona.
Also surviving are his sister Karen Goebel and her husband Mike of Irving, Texas and family friend Kara Lile of Irving, Texas and nephew Michael Paul Goebel of Irving,Texas.
Inurnment will be on Friday June 7 at 2pm at Bluebonnet Funeral Home of Colleyville, Texas. Services will be provided by the Navy and the North Texas Patriot Guard Riders.
