Gerald Joseph Saunders

Jerry passed away Wednesday October 16, 2019 at his home in Bedford, TX.

He will always be remembered as loving husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, friend, and business associate to all that knew and loved him. He was born June 2, 1934 in Appleton, WI to Henry and Eunice Saunders.

Jerry thoroughly enjoyed his 85 years on this earth. He cherished his Catholic faith and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a huge football fan especially Notre Dame. He was a Marine for life after serving 3 years during the Korean War. He was the consummate sales professional and manager providing advice even in retirement. He was President of his Home-Owners Association for years and enjoyed the camaraderie with his neighbors. But most, of all, he cherished his children and especially his 4 grandchildren and took every opportunity to spend as much time as he could with each.

Jerry is survived by his sons, Fr. Allan Saunders of Cape Girardeau, MO and Joe Saunders of Ft. Worth, Texas; daughter Michelle Dempsey and son-in-law Kevin Dempsey of Aurora, CO; daughter Monita Saunders of Whitehouse, TX; granddaughters, Shelbea Malik of Burleson, TX and Micaela Dempsey of Los Angeles, CA; and, grandsons, Richard Dempsey of King City, CA and Colin Saunders of Ft. Worth, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Reitzner. They were married July 25, 1959 in Higginsville, MO. He was also preceded in death by his parents Henry and Eunice and siblings.

The visitation will be held on Sunday October 20, 2019 from 3-5pm at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2pm on Monday October 21, 2019 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Bedford, TX. Interment will follow in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
