Gloria Binion went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 6, 2024, at the age of ninety-nine. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.
Gloria grew up in Atlanta and moved to Texas after marrying her late husband, Jack Binion. Gloria and Jack raised their two daughters, Melanie and Cindy in Fort Worth, where both Gloria and Jack were educators in Birdville ISD. Gloria obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of North Texas while her children were young – demonstrating her deep love for learning and drive to build a career in education. Gloria taught fifth grade at O.H. Stowe Elementary for many years and then served as an Elementary Counselor at Bedford Heights Elementary for Hurst Euless Bedford ISD. Gloria was also active in Birdville ISD’s Retired Teachers Association and continued her lifelong learning in the Tarrant County College Senior Education courses.
Gloria lived a full and beautiful life, anchored in love for her family, her church, and her community. She loved home grown roses, Jack’s famous garden tomatoes, reading late into the night, and sipping “half a cup of coffee” throughout the day. She cherished her family that ultimately spanned four generations (as she would so famously say).
Gloria is survived by her two daughters, Melanie Sanderson (Carl), and Cindy Serna, her five grandchildren, and her eleven great-grandchildren.
Her life was honored during a family graveside service on September 14, 2024. Donations in her memory can be made to the Binion Elementary Ministry of City Point Church, 7301 Glenview Drive, N. Richland Hills, TX 76180.
