Hazel Marie Smith

Hazel Marie Smith, age 96, of Watauga, Texas, passed away on July 8, 2026.

Hazel was born on May 5, 1930, in Electra, Texas, to Melton and Daisy Adams. She was raised in Boyd, Texas, where she attended Boyd High School and graduated in 1948.

In 1968, Hazel married Harvey Ray “Sonny” Smith, and together they built a life rooted in love, family, and community. Hazel was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy came from caring for those she loved.

In her spare time, Hazel enjoyed sewing, playing cards with friends, and spending time with her family. She was an avid Texas Rangers fan and never missed an opportunity to watch a game.

Hazel was a strong and independent woman with a generous heart. She loved bringing people together, often sharing homemade beans, fried potatoes, and cornbread with family and friends. Her warmth, hospitality, and love for others will be remembered always.

Hazel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harvey Ray “Sonny” Smith, in 2002, and her son in 2023.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish her memory. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Debbie and Chris for the care they provided.

A visitation will be held at 9am with the graveside service following at 10am on Friday, July 17, both at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 5725 Colleyville, Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034.

Hazel’s strength, kindness, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
