Helen Lois Quimby, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Ray Quimby, with whom she shared a life rooted in love, hard work, and family.
Helen is survived by her five children: Janett Campbell, Tim Sanders, Roxy Alexander, Laura Cude, and Billie James. She also lovingly helped raise her two stepsons, Rodger Quimby and Don Jr., affectionately known as “Peanut.” She leaves behind four grandchildren, along with many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who will forever cherish her memory.
Helen was a woman who always placed God and family first. She worked diligently throughout her life with a joyful and grateful heart, serving as a secretary and office manager while tirelessly supporting those she loved. Her compassion and devotion were especially evident in the loving care she provided to her father, William Jefferson Mitchell, and her mother, Eva Marie Evans Mitchell, remaining by their side until their passing.
After years spent caring for others, Helen embraced life for herself with the same determination and enthusiasm she brought to everything she did. She drove for the railroad and the Chevy house. She later attended Curves fitness classes, eventually becoming an instructor and dietician. She remained active in her church community, faithfully attending services and nurturing her spiritual life.
Helen loved spending time with family and friends and believed life was meant to be fully lived. In true Helen fashion, she quietly crossed adventures off her bucket list — including skydiving in her 70s. She kept it a secret from the family until afterward, fearing they would stop her, only revealing it once everyone saw the video. She also rode in a hot air balloon, went to the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone in her 80s, and rode a long horn steer when she was 90.
Known for her sweet and kind nature, Helen rarely spoke an unkind word. Quiet and unassuming on the outside, she carried a fierce spirit within and would defend her family without hesitation. Those who knew her best understood there was strength behind her gentle smile, and you never wanted to find yourself on her bad side.
Helen’s life was a testament to faith, resilience, kindness, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of all who knew her.
