

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 26 at 10 a.m. at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel, followed by burial at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 25, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. J.H. grew up on the North side of Fort Worth and was an ace pitcher at North Side High School. He turned down a contract in 1943 with the Brooklyn Dodgers to serve his country in WWII. He joined the Navy and was Quartermaster First Class, Squadron 28, PT boat #546 “the Timberwolf” in the Philippines. After the war he went to work for Sinclair Oil Refinery and then was a loyal employee of Stauffer Chemical for 36 years. He married the love of his life, Evelyn Louise (Lou) Phillips, on June 1, 1958 at their church, First Baptist of Smithfield. J.H. is preceded in death by his parents, brother and sisters, and his beloved son, Johnny Baker. He coached pony and little league baseball, enjoyed fishing, gardening, wood carving and creating art, but loved being at home with his family the most. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Lou Baker; daughters Tammy Baker, April Sealy, and Laura Simmons and son-in-laws Joe Alvarez, Scott Sealy, and Kevin Simmons; grandchildren Chaise Baker, Cortney Hoppe, Casey Kessinger, Elan Sealy, Hayden Sealy, Katie Coleman, Tim Tatsak, Lilah Tatsak, Cloe Simmons, Kaden Simmons; and nine great-grandchildren; Lola, Brooklyn, Jazmyn, Charlie, Caydence, Camden, Kaelyn, Lane, and Zoe along with numerous cherished nieces and nephews.
