

James Raymond Godwin, 86 passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015 in Carrollton, Texas. James was born to Joseph and Lottie Godwin on October 19, 1928 in Greenville, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte Tater Godwin, both parents, and numerous brothers and sisters. He is survived by son Albert Eugene Godwin and wife Carolyn; son Henry Wyndell Godwin and wife Yolanda; son Jimmy Don Godwin and wife Cynthia; daughter Carolyn Sue Godwin Lang and husband Edward Lang III; Grandchildren Tina and husband Darin, Linda, Phillip, Timothy, Jeremy, Jeffrey and wife Monica, Christopher and wife Amanda, Andrea and fiancé Brent, IV and James; Great –grandchildren Rebekah, Brennan, Allyssa, Jerod, Reagan, Andrew, Caitlynn, Emily, Mary and many nieces and nephews. James served in the United States Military, a veteran of WWII (Navy), and the Korean War (Army). James is a decorated two time Purple Heart recipient. He is a retired machinist from Otis Engineering and finished his working career as a crossing guard for the Carrollton Police Department. Friends and family are cordially invited for a time of visitation Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 4:30 to 6:30 in the evening at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Carrollton, TX. A service Celebrating the Life of James Godwin will take place at 7 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Mr. Godwin will be honored for his service to his country on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 10:15 a.m at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, TX.
