Services will be held on Saturday June 25, 2022 at 10:00am at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville, TX.
Murf was born on August 11, 1943 in Staten Island, NY to Helen and James Murphy. He attended school at Xaverian High School in Brooklyn, NY where he would academically excel and receive a full academic scholarship to Villanova University for Chemical Engineering. He would go on to graduate with honors from Villanova.
With his degree he worked for Esso in NJ, Merck in NJ and Ireland, Bristol Meyers in NY and he would retire from his career as Vice President Corporate Engineering for Alcon Labs in Fort Worth, TX. He genuinely loved his career he chose in life and was a wonderful boss and coworker to others.
He met the love of his life Barbara in 1971 on the Merck company softball team. They married on May 11th 1974. From there together they went on so many adventures and they built an amazing life together and had two daughters.
He loved traveling the world, good food, entertaining friends and family, celebrating any occasion, golfing, fine wine, a good cigar and a Villanova Basketball game.
Most importantly…he loved his family deeply. Murf was a family man to the core. He loved being a husband, a father, and a Papa Murf. He was a good man who would do anything for his family. And he will be forever loved and missed.
Murf is preceded in death by his mother and father James and Helen Murphy. He is survived by his wife Barbara of Colleyville, TX. His daughters and their husbands, Courtney and Shawn Meredith of Fort Worth, TX and Lesley and Nathan Greer of Frisco, TX. He is also survived by his 3 grandchildren grandsons Colin and Owen Greer and granddaughter Olivia Meredith as well as many other family members and dear friends.
