Born October 2nd, 1941 in Dallas, TX, James’ journey of faith began at an early age when a sweet neighbor cared enough to drive James to church. James accepted Christ and was baptized as a youth, and that foundation of faith guided him through 63 years of a beautiful, devoted marriage to the love of his life, Janice. Together, they built a family rooted in the same Christian values he held dear.
James was a noble man, steady in character and quiet in presence, whose life spoke through his actions more than his words. Neat, tidy, and unfailingly organized, he believed in making a plan and seeing it through with unwavering commitment. A man of few words, he chose them carefully, and when he spoke, his words carried weight, guidance, and a calm kind of wisdom that those around him never forgot.
He was a faithful member of Plymouth Park Baptist Church for 60 years. He served the body of Christ with a servant’s heart as a Deacon and Usher. He shared his wisdom and love for scripture as a Preschool Sunday School teacher. He didn’t just teach the word, he lived it.
Professionally, James was a meticulous accountant who worked for First National Bank Dallas, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, and Boy Scouts of America where he retired in 2007.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Janice; his two daughters and their husbands, Susan and Jason Weston, Sherry and Bryan Newell; five grandchildren and their spouses, Nicki Weston and Gilbert Ochoa, Eloy Salgado III, Madison and Phillip Davis, Alyson and Bradon Hull, Abigail and Austin Alvarez; nine great-grandchildren, Malorie Ochoa, Grayden Ochoa, Hadley Ochoa, Adalynn Davis, Bexleigh Davis, and a baby boy on the way, Crue Hull, Ledger Hull, Weston Alvarez, and Ada Alvarez. He is also survived by his brother Horace Ransome Jr, Sister and husband Glenda and Jim Fleischman.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albina Zycha and Horace M Ransome.
A celebration of life and faith will be held on Saturday, January 10th at 1:00pm at Plymouth Park Baptist Church, 1714 N Story Rd, Irving, TX, 75061.
