James Michael “Jim” Westrom, a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful servant of Christ, and joyful presence to all who knew him, passed away on January 15, 2026, in Colleyville, Texas, at the age of 68.
Jim was born on May 7, 1957, in San Diego, California, the eldest of eight siblings—a role he carried with natural leadership, warmth, and a larger-than-life spirit. He graduated from Loyola Marymount University, California with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology.
Above all else, Jim loved his family & Jesus. He is survived by his beloved wife, Inez Westrom; his children Mark (38), Kate (23), and Sofia (21); and his cherished granddaughter, Isabella (2), who brought him immense pride and happiness. He was a steadfast and faithful husband who loved being married to his “Cuban wife Inez”. They spent 36 years together happily married and working hard and were involved in their kids’ sports & church weekly.
Jim was very athletic and played baseball, basketball, football, and golf. He won many athletic awards, including “Athlete of the Year.” A supportive and loving father, he inspired his son to start playing golf and did not miss the opportunity to go play with him. He even learned to play pickle ball. He did not miss a soccer game or cheer competition with his girls, Kate & Sofia. He even became a soccer coach for CSA to stay involved with Sofia known as “Fireflies”. He was fiercely competitive. He was a joyful grandfather whose love will continue to shape generations.
Jim was a true salesman and a leader who was always rising to the top. He was not afraid to put in the work and was always prepared for his meetings. He worked for Burroughs, Digital Corp, and BCSI among others. As a leader and Sales Vice President, he had the talent for recognizing and developing people’s strengths and all who worked for him loved him.
Jim always knew how to have a good time, he was a guy’s guy, with his infectious laugh, joyous smile and unmistakable energy. He loved being at the center of the room, but those closest to him knew his deepest strength came from the quiet hours he spent in prayer, faithfully lifting the people he loved. Jim’s life was rooted in his unwavering love for Jesus Christ.
His Christian faith guided every part of who he was—his devotion to family, his heart for service, and his compassion for others both near and far. He was an active and deeply committed member of Compass Church, Colleyville, Texas, where he found community, purpose, and joy in worship and service. He was involved in Sunday worship and worked with teenagers.
Jim also had a lifelong passion for the Los Angeles Chargers, faithfully holding onto the dream of one day seeing them win the Super Bowl—a hope he carried with humor, loyalty, and optimism, season after season.
Jim will be remembered for his joyful spirit, generous heart, deep faith, and the countless prayers he offered for others. Trust in God’s promises. While his absence leaves a profound ache, his family finds peace knowing he is now fully in the presence of the Savior he loved.
