Jane Elizabeth Mapel, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2015. She was 79 years old. Jane was born in January of 1936 to Fred and Blanche Rankin in Charlotte, North Carolina. She grew up in Belmont, North Carolina, until she moved to Texas in 1954 to further her education at Texas State College for Women. There she pursued and completed two Master's degrees in English and Music. Jane was a talented artist and musician. She was a vocalist, and loved sharing her love of music. She married the love of her life, Seldon, on August 30, 1958.
Jane was a loving wife, mother and friend. She devoted her time to charitable work to those who were less fortunate, leaving behind an indelible mark of love and kindness on all of those who were blessed to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Blanche Rankin. Jane is survived by her husband of 57 years, Seldon B. Mapel Jr.; children, Stacy Mapel and his wife, Tracy, Fred Mapel and Alice Mapel; grandchild, Autumn Mapel; and siblings, Tom Rankin, Betty Sipes and Mary Miller and their spouses.
