Jean will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, colleague, and friend to all that knew and loved her. She was born on November 7, 1929, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Ethel Augustine and Clyde Wortman Cato.
She was always a very hardworking, independent woman retaining a profession as a legal secretary for most of her life. Before her retirement, she worked for almost 20 years at Placid Oil. Some of Jean’s favorite pastimes were traveling, dancing (she was given the moniker “Jean, Jean the Dancing Machine”), singing, and spending time with friends. Her greatest accomplishment though was becoming a grandmother. She spent all the time that she could with her grandchildren Lauren, Alexandra, and Austin.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Kim Parkey, and husband Gary Parkey, son Scott Elinski, grandchildren Lauren, Alexandra, and Austin Parkey. She was preceded in death by her eldest son John Elinski III, her parents Ethel and Clyde, and her five siblings Ethel Rose, Clyde Mae, Marion Clay, Mary Florence, Anthony Wortman.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in person (for those who can attend) at 12:30 pm on Sunday, January 24th, 2021 at the Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home chapel; reception to follow in the Bluebonnet Hills Reception Space.
