

Jerry was born in Clovis, New Mexico, on August 23rd, 1942. He was taken home to Bovina, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University. Jerry served in the U.S. Army 1965-1966. He remained in the Reserves until his discharge in 1970. Jerry and Linda Abel were married on September 28th, 1996, combining two families. He served and had 38+ years working for the Federal Aviation Administration. He was a member of White's Chapel Methodist Church.
His passion was piloting and working in the air transportation industry. He received his pilot's license at the age of 14. His second passion was reading 2 or 3 books at one time.
His parents were Rouel Grey Barron and Thelma Free, His grandparents were Plumber Davis Barron and Maggie Belle Nall. They worked and owned land originally from Hay Hook Line Camp of XIT Ranch, Pride of Parmer County, and Bull Town. Becoming the proud and dignified town of Bovina, Texas.
The combined family he created with Linda, consists of five children...who all married within four years of Jerry and Linda's wedding: Stacey Riggle (William), Shelley Jepsen (Fred), Matthew Barron (deceased, 2000, U.S. Navy), Jonathan Hardin, and Jennifer Nairn (Brandon). His grandchildren: Matthew Riggle, Kimber Riggle, Samuel Jepsen, Amelia Rose Jepsen, Wyatt Jepsen, Andrew Hardin, Jason Hardin, Adrienne Elting (Tyler), Austin Nairn (Haleigh), and Ashton Nairn. He has one great grandchild, Haegan Elting.
Services for Jerry will be held Friday, December 12th, 2025. The memorial service will take place 11 a.m. at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home 5725 Colleyville Blvd. Colleyville, TX 76034. A committal service, with military honors, will take place 3 p.m. at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy. Dallas, TX 75211. If you plan on being present for the committal service, please arrive at the cemetery no later than 2:45 p.m.
